Soar to New Heights with Flying Ball
Flying Ball was an adventure I chose that immediately opened my mind with its simplistic mechanics that are much harder than they look. Your objective, as described in the game’s details, is to climb to the top of each of the game’s levels. That turns into a fun activity of dodging deadly saws and grabbing the stars to achieve those stellar high scores.
You instinctively bounce and dodge your way through while the faces and designs become increasingly elaborate and difficult to maneuver around, never allowing you to lose that sense of urgency, something that has been praised by other gamers for its challenging yet attainable difficulty curve, most notably in the quest for a 2000 score in survival mode. A star system is in place to reward completionists in level mode, while both survival and level mode tackle elemental playstyles.
And while the game never tries to drown the player, it still makes sure you’re always on your toes with just enough danger.
I’ve heard wall-to-wall acclaim from the gaming set, especially with regards to its enjoyable gameplay loop and its ability to marry simplicity with strategy. So keep in mind, you bounce more than a ball when you hit those saws – you’re also bouncing back to the start of the level! Now that’s what I call a rapid learning curve!
