A Casual Putt Through Ancient Ruins in Maya Golf
A virtual golfing tour on Maya Golf is engaging yet casual. The game has eight different courses with 18 holes per course, which is acceptable to the more ardent golfer who frequents online. As I navigated my way through these courses, I tried to sink the ball with the least amount of strokes possible, a sometimes difficult endeavor but the objective, after all. I found that many of the control and pacing aspects were different and this seemed to add depth to the game.
Others have chimed in with a more mixed bag of opinions – some saying the golf mechanics are a little unconventionally paced – but comments of this nature didn’t put a damper on the overall leisurely pace that many online games fans, myself included, revere. Among the few perks (for completing the Gold Tree, for example) is the 'end game/submit score' option, which is that helps to add some competition to the peaceful landscapes inspired by ancient Maya.
All in all, Maya Golf does the job of filling in the gaps for a no-thrills browser-based golf game -- probably not something you’ll settle in for, but perhaps a decent curiosity for the average joe looking to relax with a few strategic swings.
