A New Twist on a Classic Favorite

3.5
If you’re ready to get lost in the ultimate puzzle game, Tetra, could be your next obsession. As an avid gamer, I’ve spent a lot of time playing this Tetris-like puzzle game, an experience that has been both a blessing and a curse thanks to its addictive nature. It’s the sort of game that you intend to play for a few minutes, then suddenly you look up and an hour has disappeared into thin air.

Pros: Tetra builds on the experience of Tetris and raises the stakes, rewarding your strategic placement of the falling tetrominoes. The points were coming out of the woodworks and it was god damn rewarding clearing several lines and just watching that score go up in flames. The way the game progresses is a really nice curve with a gradual ramping up in difficulty that just puts me on edge.

Cons: As much as I enjoy it (and other players do), I’ve noticed (and other folks have too) that the game is a little slow in the pace department. A faster drop option is definitely going to improve the flow and will please those of us looking for speed. Nevertheless, the general game is not something I would turn my back on; it simply needs a few perky upgrades.

And remember, as it is in Tetra, it is also in life: Sometimes the pieces fit together perfectly, and sometimes, you have to twist the pieces around a bit. Keep spinning!
